A simple and comfortable mountain lodge for rest and nourishment.

Yokoo Sanso is a YAMAGOYA, a traditional Japanese mountain lodge, where hikers can rest, recover, and prepare for their journey.

Amenities and Facilities

Thank you in advance for your cooperation

  • Please refrain from doing laundry in the lodge. Although you may feel that want to wash your cloth after long hike, you are not supposed to do laundry in mountains where not equipped with water supply and sewage system. Additionally, of course, please DO NOT hang your wet item in dorms, otherwise the floor would be soaked.
  • Toilet manner. Since there is no sewer in mountains, composting toilets are installed in our washroom as other mountain lodges do. The toilet utilizes a biological process with aerobic organisms which the system doesn’t need much water. The thermophilic composting bacteria thrives at warm temperature (heating with generator’s power) and break down the waste completely. However, toilet paper or any kind of trash would prevent the biological system, so please put toilet paper into the bin instead of throwing to toilet.
